<story><b>A haunting depiction of a truly grisly war, Conflict: Vietnam is the next instalment in the multi-award winning Conflict series, which has to date, sold over 3.5 million copies worldwide.</b><br><br>Conflict: Vietnam follows the progress of four US soldiers, cut off from their unit and behind enemy lines during the 1968 Tet Offensive. Tasked with fighting their way back to friendly lines, they are faced with day-to-day survival in a hostile environment where the enemy could be hiding anywhere and everywhere. They are brutally aware of the presence of the Viet Cong and the potential danger that lurks with every footstep.<br><br>Conflict: Vietnam is a third person shooter where the player takes full control of all four squad members, utilising their different skill sets and tactical abilities to carefully out-flank enemies, neutralise targets and potential threats and make it back to friendly lines in one piece.<br><br>Unlike Conflict: Desert Storm, Conflict: Vietnam does not set out to depict the course of the war; instead it bears witness to the struggling for survival in the oppressive Vietnam jungle against a ruthless terrain and seemingly ever-present 'invisible' enemy.
</story>
<features>
<feat_id>Take control of your squad of four men; tired, desperate and trapped in the heart of enemy territory in one of the most inhospitable terrains ever fought in.</feat_id>
<feat_id>14 genuinely big missions, 40% more gameplay than Conflict: Desert Storm II, spanning intimidating environments such as gun-boating down Vietnamese rivers, storming local villages, assaulting the ancient Vietnamese capital of Hue, and, of course, combat in the oppressive and claustrophobic jungle.</feat_id>
<feat_id>Avoid the infamous and invisible Vietcong boobytraps, including Bouncing Betties, Punji Stake Pits and Grenade trip wires. Danger lurks with every step.</feat_id>
<feat_id>Steal weapons from fallen enemy soldiers as you look to scavenge anything you can to survive in this harsh environment.</feat_id>
<feat_id>Use the mounted gun emplacements on Huey helicopters or on the River Patrol Boats or take control of tanks for real heavy artillery and serious combat.</feat_id>
<feat_id>Massively-improved AI featuring a ground-up rewrite of enemy AI. This includes elements such as:</feat_id>
<feat_id> Intelligent use of grenades to maximise damage or minimise risk accordingly. Enemies will even throw back grenades.</feat_id>
<feat_id> Enemy soldiers now have the ability to communicate and make decisions leading to co-ordinated attacks.</feat_id>
<feat_id> Take-point, covering fire, line-of-fire and fire-at-will AI fundamentally improved.</feat_id>
<feat_id> Target acquisition now optimised so more appropriate decisions are made about which enemy is targeted.</feat_id>
<feat_id> Greatly improved character movement simulating better recoil, feet aligning to the ground and flinches from bullet hits thanks to our new Inverse Kinematics system.</feat_id>
<feat_id>Major graphical enhancements including new multi-platform texture compression methods giving greater diversity and volume of textures. Platform specific improvements such as PS2 detail mapping give a hi-res look to nearby textures reducing pixilation. Xbox depth of field feature gives a focus effect to distance. All of this leads to a richer, more realistic environment.</feat_id>
<feat_id>In Vietnam, with 'the invisible enemy', your hearing is equally as important as your vision. Conflict: Vietnam has a whole host of sound features that make you feel like you're actually there. This includes a new multi-platform surround sound system so you can hear the enemy approaching from behind and a Tinnitus effect, which leaves a 'ringing in your ears' when you're too close to an explosion and can prevent you hearing vital information.</feat_id>

<quote>"It conceals a depth of gameplay that isn't far removed from strategic games like Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm or even Rainbow six 3. Only, you know, a bit more fun."<br><b>PSW</b></quote>

<story><b>A game on the grandest scale, bringing the air and sea battles of the Pacific to life like never before.</b><br><br>Midway (working title) follows the course of the Pacific operations of World War II between America and Japan, and focuses on the great naval and aerial battles of the period. All the greatest feats of arms are featured: the surprise attack on Pearl Harbour; the Doolittle raid; MacArthur's daring escape from the Philippines; the demise of the ABDA (American, British and Dutch Allies) forces at the Battle of the Java Sea; the first ever carrier battle in the Coral Sea; and, of course, Midway itself, one of the greatest naval victories of all time.<br><br>Players can choose to fight the battle from either side; as the Americans, trace the fortunes of Lt. Henry Walker and his fellow graduates of the Naval Academy Class of '41, as they take the fight to the Imperial Japanese Navy and prove themselves against the might of the most powerful naval force in history. As the Japanese, serve under the legendary Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, strategic genius and master architect of the Pearl Harbour attack, a man torn between loyalty to his Emperor and his own conviction that Japan was 'awakening the sleeping giant'.<br><br>Whatever side you play, you'll be able to take direct command of the legendary units of the period: Zero and Wildcat fighter planes; the Yorktown and Akagi aircraft carriers; mighty battleships like the Prince of Wales and Yamato; and a whole host destroyers, cruisers, submarines and PT boats. And once you have mastered the single-player game, take your skills online to take part in huge 16-player battles, where you and your friends can team together to battle for dominion of the island archipelagos of the Pacific.
</story>
<features>
<feat_id>Midway features a control interface, difficulty curve and level of complexity tailored to the console user from the ground up. Our experience with Conflict: Desert Storm has been an invaluable lesson in how to bring this style of game effectively to the mass-market console consumer.</feat_id>
<feat_id>A lavish 3D engine model in real-time recreates perfectly the seas and islands of the Pacific, within which all the action takes place. The Player can bob on the waves, soar through the skies up to 10,000 feet, or dive through the depths of the sea.</feat_id>
<feat_id>'Do what you like' gameplay. Players can take direct control of any of the units under their command, or else give them orders and watch the AI carry out their instructions. They can jump instantly from sitting in an AA gun shooting at planes, to leading a dive-bomber squadron on a raid, to commanding an entire carrier battle group to victory. The Player can choose to what level they wish to immerse themselves in the gameplay, making it accessible to all skill levels.</feat_id>
<feat_id>All the legendary ships and planes of the era will be modelled; the George V and Yamato class battleships, Essex and Akagi class aircraft carriers, Zero and Wildcat fighter planes, B-17 and Betty class bombers, and special units such as mini-subs, will all be available to the Player.</feat_id>
<feat_id>Real-time weather conditions such as wind, rain and fog affect the Player's ability to detect and engage the enemy, as well as being graphically attractive.</feat_id>
<feat_id>Game structure consists of several seperate linear-mission campaigns, which become gradually unlocked as the Player progresses through the game. Examples are the U.S campaign (a reflection of the historical progress of the war), the Japanese campaign (a counter factual campaign that results in Japanese victory), and several mini campaigns that focus on particular elements and roles (for example a Pilot campaign where the Player always takes the role of a single pilot, or a Submarine campaign where the Player is the captain).</feat_id>
<feat_id>The game will be wrapped in a very high level of presentation, with character-based FMV cut-scenes giving the human side of the story.</feat_id>
<feat_id>Advanced real-time ballistic and damage systems give instances such as spreading fires, malfunctions and explosive ammo stores.</feat_id>
